HOW WE WORK

Editorial policy

These are proposed editorial principles for the prototype. They must be reviewed and adopted by the publisher before launch.

Evidence before punchlines

Humour may make an explanation memorable, but it must never alter the meaning of evidence or imply facts that have not been established.

Traceable numbers

Important numerical claims should link to primary sources where possible, such as exchange filings, company disclosures, regulatory releases and published financial statements. Articles should state the relevant period and units.

Separate facts from analysis

Clearly distinguish reported information, calculations, assumptions, estimates, interpretations and opinion. Identify data dates and avoid presenting stale data as current.

Corrections

Material errors should be corrected transparently, with the article's update date and a note describing the correction. Do not silently change a significant factual claim.

Conflicts and fairness

Disclose relevant conflicts. Give subjects a fair opportunity to respond to material factual allegations. Avoid sensational claims, fabricated quotes, guaranteed-return language and misleading charts.

Pre-launch task: define the responsible editor, correction contact, conflict process, source-retention process and applicable legal/compliance review.
